Hoping for 16-0

Midwest (INEPT) - Here we are, on the brink of Hatred Disaster. Though the hapless Letdowns actually put up a fight, the outcome was the same. The season of Undefeat continues.

Letdown Again

And yet, here at INEPT, we encourage you, for the next two weeks, to swallow your bile and actually, yes, cheer on the Hatriots. While a bit counter to the usual message from this site, you, dear Reader, as a true and dedicated Hater, must root for those whiners from the Northeast. We, as true Haters, want 16-0. We, as true Haters, need 16-0.

Surprise!

Of course, as your mouth hangs open in slack-jawed surprise, be wondering: Why? The reasons are actually quite simple:
  • Immense Pressure. Going 16-0 will place an inordinate amount of pressure on the Hatriots. Just imagine the thoughts that will run through their minds in the 4th quarter of a close playoff game: "Oh my gosh, we can't lose. We just can't! The whole season will be ruined." Also, the might be thinking about eating a tasty sausage pizza.
  • Media Frenzy. The media will also pile on, asking them numerous mind-bendingly dull and stupid questions about going undefeated. This will force the Hatriots to spend time coming up with even more stupid answers. An example: last week's sausage pizza quote from Rodney HGHarrison.
  • An Historical Failure. When the Hatriots role into the playoffs at 16-0, the pending playoff loss will be talked about for a long time, and the Hatriots will be remembered as (1) a team that got caught cheating and (2) an incredible failure to deliver on what could have been perfection. Anytime a team goes N and 0 (N>8), the first thing the media will bring up is the Hatriots and how they almost were perfect but failed. They may also bring up Sausage Pizza.

We know we are asking for a lot. We know how much you hate. But if you were weak, you wouldn't be here. No, only the strong can Hate, for so long, and with such singularity of focus. So Haters, one and all, unite for these two short weeks. Cheer on those that we normally Hate. With a little luck (or, more likely, some Colt or Jaguar skill), this miserable season will come to a wondrous close, with deplorable Undefeat transforming into glorious One-defeat.

BTW: What is up with Belichoke's Awesome game comment to Mangini? Once again, old Bill sounds like an asshole. But we suppose we should only write about things that surprise us.

Pressure? Yeah, the Patriots will be sweating for sure. They're the ultimate choke team, as recent history has proven. Ha ha!
Please, the Patriots' mantra is "one game at a time." They won't even think about 19-0 until they're ahead by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. The rest of the league could learn something from them. They'll be just fine.
But keep going, telling Pats fans how anxious we should be. We love how you're so obsessed with our team.

Hater in Chief,
You are fu$#ing tool, but I have to hand it to ya. What a brilliant concept. I don't know if your fellow haters have it in them. SRD and that Giantsfanthingy are way too bitter and lonely to possibly root for the Patriots. You'd swear Bill Belichick stole their wallets and bitch-slapped them personally.
You are right. For a 16-0 team to lose in the playoffs would be a helluva thing, which is certainly not beyond the realm of possibilty. It would be a huge let down, but let's not forget one thing. Most Patriot fans are also Red Sox fans. Nothing can be worse than 86 years of futility and seeing your team come ever so close in 1946, 1967, 1986, 1990, and 2003. The Patriots have also suffered in 1978, 1985 and 1997 in a 41 year drought. We are used to losing, so if we lose again, believe me, we'll drive on.
Right we're just enjoying the ride and where it ends nobody knows. But how many other teams can say the WE CAN WIN IT ALL AND NEVER LOSE A GAME??
GO PATRIOTS!!! FUCK YEAH!!!

8:22 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wow... Chip Dawg mentioned me by name... I'm chaaahhmed!

I don't blame the Pats fans for enjoying the ride. I hope the Patriots peaked early and start sinking just in time for the playoffs. Their defense is old and wrinkly and should be bothered by the weather that, for some reason, is supposed to be a benefit to them. If they go undefeated... I don't care. I ordered NFL Sunday Ticket 3 years ago when I decided I wasn't going another football Sunday being forced to watch the Patriots. Now I never watch them unless the Red Zone channel shows a lowlight. If they are in the Super Bowl, I won't care. BUT, if they lose on their way to the Super Bowl, I will celebrate beyond belief!!!

"bothered by the weather that, for some reason, is supposed to be a benefit to them."
Look up the Patriots' stats in cold-weather games. You may learn something.
Add to that, Tom Brady has the best record of any quarterback in December and January. Joe Montana is a distant second.
Add to that, this Patriots team is superior to any previous Patriots team.
The Patriots get better and more determined as the season goes on. An unlike last year, they have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Every other team will be feeling the pressure, not the Pats. They're playing with house money.

chippy, I'm not bitter, I just like to argue. Also, you'd realize this if you'd take brady's cock out of your ass.

anonymous, use a name so people can follow subsequent posts. Also, Home-Field is a joke for the pats, the weather is going to be horrible, they have no running game. Home-field is a detriment to them this year.

Also, it's pretty clear they are actually getting worse as the season continues, not "better and more determined."

just do us a favor, when they lose, don't hide in the sand...come back here and continue to argue that they are the best team ever, even though they've lost. Based on your previous arguments, this should seem completely possible for you to accomplish.

Further, clearly I was referring to home field when weather might take away their ability to pass, like in the fucking winter. Next time, learn how to make reasonable inferences before you pull the dick out of your mouth to speak. (now I'm calling YOU gay too, LOLZ)...ass.

"Also, Home-Field is a joke for the pats, the weather is going to be horrible, they have no running game. Home-field is a detriment to them this year."

Yeah, okay, like in the winter, like as in the last game, when we beat the Jets with our so-called nonexistent running game and the snow/sleet/rain. That weather took our ability to pass away, right? But....we still won though, right?

Stupid asswipe, homophobic jerk. I think we all know who's got the stick in his mouth.

1:06 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

oh, anonymous doesn't pick up sarcasm. If you were implying that Brady is more of a man than the rest of the league, I worry about you.

Pats fan, yeah, you won alright. you beat the awful Jets, in a much closer game than the scoreboard showed. Your passing game went to shit and you barely got 100 yards on 25+ carries against the Jets. The patriots simply wont put up enough points in similar conditions against a team that has a potent running offense.

But because you managed to squeeze by in one game against a shitty team, you'll probably be ok against the Colts in similar weather...yeah right. I think the stick's back in your mouth now.

1:17 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

The Colts are a classic dome team, while the Patriots thrive in adverse conditions, no matter what their usual game plan has been. It's been proven before, it'll be proven again.
I do admire, however, how you can continue the smack talk against an undefeated team that's already beaten the Colts, Dallas, Chargers and Pittsburgh. Impressive!

And while we're on the subject, here's a question for the haters: How many points should the Patriots beat the Dolphins by on Sunday? If they win by four touchdowns, they'll be accused of piling on. If they win by one touchdown, they'll be accused of just "squeezing by." Is a two-touchdown win acceptable? Three?

1:35 PM

Great question. If the Hatriots have any sense of history, they will beat the Dolphins 19-0. 17-0 would be funny too.

Again, they haven't impressed me all year. Talk about a squad that's "squeaked by" some teams they should have trounced handily, healthy or not: the Titans, the Texans, the Chiefs and the Raiders. Are you kidding me?
The Dolphins would have been better off had they lost this weekend. Then they would have had something to play for.

The Colts will be nothing against our offense. And I agree- keep talking trash about a team that can literally kick your ass, as well as the NFL's.

Face it, srd (or SRD), you just hate excellence. You see a fanbase that's happy and excited with their great team (unlike yours), so you lash out like a little punk who didn't get enough love from his mommy. Trashing an undefeated team that's breaking all kinds of records just comes off as weak and pathetic, most sound-minded people would agree.
Plus, you and other haters keep forgetting a simple point: The fact that you're so grumpy and hateful makes us smile even more; it's all part of the schadenfreude syndrome. Do you think Yankees or Red Sox fans' feelings are hurt when fans of other teams take shots at them? They love it — it just proves how much they're envied, regardless of what you say. So, please continue to shoot yourself in the foot.

Hmmm, it's weird because I know lots of people who are completely satisfied and happy with their teams of choice, and I feel no need to bring them down...must be something about you guys, right? Also, my mommy loves me very much.

"Trashing an undefeated team that's breaking all kinds of records just comes off as weak and pathetic, most sound-minded people would agree."

Mostly I'm trashing them in an individualized capacity, it's not that they're winning, it's how they're going about it.

"Plus, you and other haters keep forgetting a simple point: The fact that you're so grumpy and hateful makes us smile even more; it's all part of the schadenfreude syndrome."

I don't envy the Patriots, or their success. Would I like the team that I root for to go undefeated? absolutely...would I want them to do it in the same fashion as the Patriots? not a chance.

Yeah the second half of the Phins game was fucking ugly, but it doesn't matter. I think Josh McDaniel got a little pass-happy. If the Patriots simply played a balanced offense, NOBODY is going to beat them. Instead, without using the running game, they got predictable and the Dolphins D, which has been good for years, was able to catch up a little.

I thought the Pats D and the running game was outfuckenstanding, as was the passing game in the first half.

While, naturally, you take my statement out of context, I care about my Giants more than you'll ever know. I just don't want to get into a pissing match with the idiot Patriots fans over a game that has no effect on the outcome of the Giants season. I would still rather see Lorenzen punish the old and tired Patriots, who knows what will happen. At least I care enough about being a Giants fan that I tolerate all the Patriots crap living here, and still back the team I grew up with. I don't know how old you are, but I grew up a Giants fan in New England. I also have not liked the Patriots forever. They never mattered to me and they never will. It's just that now that the rest of the country hates them, it's easier to hate them!

Question my loyalty to my favorite team all you want, but I have lots of teams I am rooting for in the playoffs. I enjoy the game of football and not just one team, like most Patriots (fairweather) fans.

Oh yeah, and if banging supermodels is the sign of success, then you are even more shallow than I thought.

My good man, I do believe that it is called "verbal" diarrhea. :)

And I love this quote right here:

"It's just that now that the rest of the country hates them, it's easier to hate them!"

Ah, Hater In Chief! You accuse us of being bandwagoners, and yet...you harbor them yourself!

I think Tom Brady's character is pretty un-crappy, if he wins the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year....and if Gisele is dating him, again.....he wouldn't be as selfish as you think.

Yet, I do wonder one thing, Patriots fans....where have all the so-called haters gone now???? O_o

That's her modus operandi. She doesn't let the facts get in the way of her opinions. Brady is also gay, BTW.
And I ask you, GiantsfaninNE, if the rest of the country hates the Patriots so much, why do they have so many players named to the ProBowl? After all, according to you it's a popularity contest.
"Old and tired Patriots"? Obviously, you didn't see yesterday's game. They looked totally wired, ferocious and beat up on the Fins.

10:52 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Are you Patriots fans so narrow-minded and ignorant that you don't see younger players running away from such wonderful human beings as, let's say, Rodney Harrison? Did you even watch the entire game? By the way, there's another crappy person!

What makes Tom Brady's character so wonderful? Sure, if all you listen to or read is crap from New England. Broaden your horizons and see that there are stories and facts about him that do not make him out to be Jesus the way you people do. And don't forget, he couldn't give two craps about any of you either, so defend him all you want... he could care less about you.

And, as usual and shallow as you guys always are, just because he dates a supermodel, that means he's "all that". She's a whiny bag of bones anyway, which, I suppose, is a good fit for Brady, since he's a whiner too.

11:19 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

You still haven't told us WHY you think Brady is a bad seed. You know, it's called substantiating your claims.
I guess Tom Brady's a selfish, awful human being because earlier this year, he went on an eight-day trip to Ghana and Uganda, visiting health clinics and schools and speaking out about poverty and the AIDS epidemic there.
He also contributes to Active Force Foundation, which engineers, designs and provides adaptive sports equipment to people with physical disabilities. In addition to working with the Starlight Children’s Foundation of New England, he's a member of the ONE Campaign, dedicated to encouraging Americans to lobby Congress for a 1% budget increase in humanitarian aid to the developing world.
Oh, and that "whiny bag of bones" supermodel also does plenty of charity work.
See, these are called facts.

"And don't forget, he couldn't give two craps about any of you either, so defend him all you want... he could care less about you."
This statement applies to every pro athlete in the world. No one said Brady cares about us — I have no idea what he thinks, and I don't care anyway. I'm just a fan of his team.

Poor Giants Fan stuck in New England,
How's your sphincter? You've been getting your ass handed to you all day and night. I almost feel bad for you. But how the hell can you say Tom Brady or Rodney Harrison's a crappy person? Do you know these guys? If so, how? I'm not sure if you know that who they are on the football field and who they are off the gridiron are two different people. I'll tell you what. They're not perfect.
Harrison did HGH and he's got the reputation for being a dirty player. But doing a drug doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad person. It means you've got a bad problem. HGH is normally taken to recover from injuries, which Rodney had some serious ones such as a torn ACL, MCL and PCL in one knee. I believe He also fractured his shoulder blade. Hell, I'd probably take some too if it meant the difference between ending a career and doing something I loved.
Harrison also has a reputation for a dirty player, but he also has a reputation for being an aggressive player. From what I've seen, he's more aggression and with my own eyes I honestly haven't seen too many cheap shots.

Brady knocked up Moynihan and probably isn't the greatest father in the world because of his life style, but how many of these NFL players are great parents? Not the great ones. They're too into their work and hardly ever leave the office.
Have either of them been in trouble with the law? Been caught drunk driving, involved in gangs, shootings, or tortured and murdered dogs? The answer is no they have not. Look at the rest of the NFL, i.e. Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson, and the greatest moron of them all Michael Vick.

Nah, you're completely wrong.

To be honest, when spygate came out, no one was really defending Belichick over here....including myself. We all were pretty ashamed, and thought there was no excuse.

But then it all blew over, and save for the idiots on here who can't let it go (Roger Goodell and the rest of the NFL not included) and Don Shula, everyone went back to supporting their team when they realized it really wasn't such a big deal.

And dog-fighting is a bit different than video taping. Comparing the two and saying we'd do equally for the other is completely illogical.

10:15 PM
Blogger Chip Dawg said...

I totally agree with Dude. Nobody here was proud of Spygate. In fact, I thought it was an embarrassing thing that happened to an otherwise great franchise.

But what I don't believe Spygate was was a major cheating scandal. Filming other team's signals goes on in baseball and was not against the rules in the NFL until just before the '07 season. Filming a few minutes of one quarter of the first game of the season from the opposite side of the field was against the rules. But did the Pats get an advantage out of it? I doubt it. Especially when you consider that all NFL teams can and do film other teams from up above or from any other position in the stadium. Like Charlie Weiss said, the game also moves too quickly for teams to decipher other teams signals and immediately identify which defensive schemes. This info is used for future planning and the Pats didn't get much of that. The whole thing was much ado about nothing. If the Commissioner felt the Patriots cheated, he would have said so and he didn't.

Go Patriots!! Kill them all and go after their children!!

4:37 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

First of all, Chip Dawg agrees with Dude... wow... what a shock!

However, everybody speculates on both sides of the issue, whether the filming did or didn't benefit the Patriots. There are arguments both ways, but the fact remains that no one really knows. No one knows what was gained or not. In this forum, I surely doubt that anyone can say conclusively, since analysts and specialists can't either. Even though I hate the Patriots with every fiber of my being, the issue is dead and buried. They were found out, fined, and the issue should be over.

"the issue is dead and buried. They were found out, fined, and the issue should be over."
OMG, GiantsfaninNE, for once we agree.
I was also embarrassed and angry at the Pats when they were caught breaking the rules in Week 1. It was just so stupid, because that's the last team that would need that kind of advantage.
It's pretty clear, however, that the fallout over Spygate is the prime motivating factor for them to go undefeated. Without it, they may not be 15-0 right now.

5:34 AM
Blogger Chip Dawg said...

GiantsFan,
I actually agree with you too, believe it or not on two things. 1) We don't really know how much info was obstained and probably never will. And 2) the issue should be over, but the haters and whiners won't let it be. It's ok. They can want an asterisk here, an asterisk there, a fine here, a suspension there. It's all good. That silly talk only encourages the Patriots to continue the march into the record books.

Just stepping out of the swing of things for a bit...

Giantsfan, I am pretty happy to know you are a Hater with a brain. Your hate is now almost justified in my opinion, because any Hater who insists on Spygate being a big factor in the Patriots' wins this year deserves no respect. Like you said, it's done and over with. They got punished. Hate them for any reason, but not because of that. It's rather stupid.

HATER IN CHIEF, YOUR ARTICLES ARE NOW INVALID.

We can continue our banter of relentless and ultimately pointless arguments now. I just wanted to commend you. :)

I'd be careful calling Giantsfan someone with a brain. He might have some gray matter up there, but the fact that he hates the "Patriots with every fiber of my being" is a little disturbing. I didn't scroll through all 90 posts, but we all need to acknowledge one thing.

The Colts were banged up in that first game. Fine.

We, however, were penalized 120+ yards, and gave up a 70 yard TD on a checkdown before halftime.

Crowd noise, as usual at the dome, was an issue.

But not ANYWHERE NEAR the issue that Dwight Fucking Freeney was. That guy was up Brady's ass all day and singlehandedly ended 3-5 drives either by sacks, pressures, or making Matt Light false start or hold.

Once we went to max protect in the second half, he wasn't as disruptive and we freed up some time for Tom to throw the ball.

Not having Freeney is a big issue considering that Dungy's method of beating us is this: Drop seven and sustain reasonable pressure with a 4-man front. They were able to do that with their crowd and Freeney.

It won't be as easy in our house. Plus Mathis is hurt too.

Wow... you like me, you really like me! Well, the jury's still out for Chip Dawg, but I see his point.

By the way, I'm not a dude, I'm a woman. I grew up in Massachusetts, watching the NY Giants with my father for many years. He was always a Giants fan, and I bred another one.. he is 20 yrs old. My greatest memories of loving the game of football belong to Sundays watching with my dad. He passed away 5 years ago, and that year my son and I went to Draft Day at Giants Stadium. I had never been there, and to stand in the end zone and look up at the stands was so inspiring.

Anyway, I digress, I have run into many MANY Patriots fans who just diss me because I won't follow their team. Everyone has a story about who and why they follow their favorites. This week, being a Giants fan in New England is a little more difficult, but I've learned to ignore most of the comments, although, one day at the mall I had a Colts sweatshirt on and somebody spit at me. LOL

Call me unusually emotional, but my heart goes out to 'em.

....not that I would mind if the Patriots blew out their team, though. I'm just the one there after to slap 'em a high-five and say, "Next time, dude, next time."

By the way, my man JC up there- you got a serious argument going on. That thing has been brooding in me ever since we won that game on Nov. 4.

I couldn't care less what team you root for, GiantsfaninNE. But when you make outlandish charges against a person's character — no matter what team they play for — you need to back them up with facts. That's my issue.
Anyway, they replayed the Pats-Colts game from earlier this year on the NFL Network last night. The Colts played a lot tougher than I remembered, I must admit. However, if they meet again in the playoffs, there's no way the Pats will give up anywhere near the penalty yards they did the first go around. And it's doubtful the refs will make as many bonehead calls against the Pats, too.
Plus, as stated earlier, Freeney is gone, and we have home field. The wild card could be Marvin Harrison. If he does return, how effective will he be?

I don't think it's likely that the "Hatriots" have all that pressure on themselves in playoffs, in case they finish the regular season undefeated. I think that they are where they are right now, because they're NOT thinking they're going to lose during a game. Actually, I think that they're not even being overwhelmed by the need of winning a game (it would be the most stupid thing to start thinking they could lose, when they've got this far). A lot of Hatriots' offensive drives just prove that it seems impossible to stop them (it's not impossible, just doesn't seem otherwise). In summary, I think it's very likely that they will repeat as Super Bowl cahmpions this season, and if they fail, it sure won't be because they were under all that "pressure" =)

12:51 PM

to HIC: thanks for finally giving in to the will of the football gods.

There will not be so tremendous pressure to win the SB, except from Moss and Seau. I think the Pats locker room feels more inclined to want to win one for them than for the pressure the press will be putting on them.

I wonder if there's going to be a problem again when they want to be introduced as a team again instead of individually at the Super Bowl...

There is not doubt this team can carry the day. And I love it that people are getting in line to hate. I got the new sweatshirt at the store the other day, you know the blue one with the old school logo. I love the way folks on the street just sneer at it and me. Maybe it's just that I'm a big man with a big love for the game and my great team and they can't stand the fact that their team can't compete and they can't afford to upgrade that ratty old shirt while I do like my favorite coach and take scissors to the store so I can cut the sleeves of a brand new shirt.

Like most Patriots fans, you idiots have them already winning everything. IF you were any kind of football fans, you would realize that any team, on any given day, as circumstances occur, can win a game. If Brady goes out with a concussion during the first series, do you think they will still win? Do you think Matt Cassell will drive them to victory? Injuries happen, and circumstances happen that can boost another team to victory, and, if you had any knowledge of the history of the game, you would know that.

For all intents and purposes, the Patriots should win tomorrow. But being cocky a@@holes and calling everyone else "jealous" just because they don't happen to like the Patriots, makes you look like bandwagoners and idiots.

What a FU#@ing game last night!! GiantsFreakinNE, your team played VERY, VERY well. Congrats! There was one sequence during the 4th period with the Giants up 28-23 that I thought Eli let the pressure get to him. There was a muffed snap and then you can see him bitching at himself out loud. Then the Patriots D stopped the Giants and the relentless offense of New England offense took over.

But how about that Brady pass to Moss to break the record!! Fucking unbelievable!! I don't think they get better than that.

Dude,
I wouldn't worry about the Jacksonville Jaguars. Our team has stopped the run before (Pittsburgh and even last night when we had to) and we'll stop it again. Jacksonville's defense, from what I've heard, is pretty porous and it doesn't seem to be the type that can stop the Pats.
Although all the playoff teams are good, the Colts appear to be the one that matches up the best against us. Their secondary is very fast. However, if they cannot generate a good pass rush with Freeney out and Mathis hurt, the Colts are toast. The Patriot receivers are simply too fast (unlike last year) and get open too easily. How many 3rd and longs did they convert last night??

But anyways,
GO PATRIOTS!!! ONE GAME AT A TIME FOR NFL HISTORY!! 17-0 NO RETREAT!! NO SURRENDER!!

8:23 AM

Chip, you got a good point, but Maurice Jones-Drew?

I dunno.....

I think we'll be fine against the Colts. They couldn't hold a leading ten-point score, and I doubt anyone would forget the humiliating loss in January.

One more thing to everyone- the Pats' O-line was not completely at fault. Two of Brady's first string O-line starters, Neal and Kazcur, were out of that game! So Brady had TWO second-string players on his O-line- not very comforting to a quarterback of his caliber used to being protected. I think that's the main reason why the Giants were able to get two sacks on Brady and put pressure.

Oh and I feel so bad for Cofflin. What kind of idiot coach risks his starting center and then gets him completely injured?! O_o

"Oh yeah, here's a tidbit of information. Every team in the NFL wears Sean Taylor's 21 on their helmets, but the Patriots didn't. Nice! Let's hope Sean Taylor's spirit comes to haunt them".

Alright listen to some well-researched information.

The Patriots wore the 21 for a week, just like any other NFL team did to honor ST's memory. Then, however, they had no obligation to wear it, because they already had a #91 for ther dead liner Marquise Hill, and for chrissake, ST was a great guy but he didn't play for the entire NFL. It is not required that the team wear the number, especially since the man had no real intrinsic value to the Patriot organization, or any other NFL organization besides that of the Skins.

And, has it every occurred to you that if players have played before with ST, they will wear his number? I know it's hard, but not every player has played with ST, and most don't even know the guy at face value.

Sorry, but that's the truth.

8:32 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nobody has had more death and tragedy than the Broncos have had in the past year, and they seem to "find it in their heart" to also put ST's number on their helmet, along with their lost teammates.

Whether you know the guy or not, it's just common decency. Of course, that has never been one of the Patriots' qualities anyway.

8:54 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

...They still frigging wore it during that one week, when it was necessary. After that, really, I don't see the point. No one cared enough to make a statement of it. And I don't think ST would be so high and mighty even in death to demand that everyone put his number on their helmet.
